Product Description

A premium, oil-based, hardwearing and weather resistant translucent finish with slip resistance for exterior timber decks, stairways and walkways. It enhances the natural beauty of timber while providing excellent protection and slip resistance. Must be used over a priming coat of Sikkens Cetol HLSe.

Application Description

Ready to use with no need to thin. Stir thoroughly before use. Final colour will depend upon timber type, previous treatment and the number of coats applied. Ensure timber moisture content is below 15%. Do not apply in temperatures below 5℃ and above 35°C, in damp conditions (when relative humidity is above 85%), or if rain or dew is likely before the product has dried. If using more than one can, it is advisable to mix them together in a larger container or finish in a corner before starting the new can to ensure colour consistency. On previously stained decking, touch up bare areas with Sikkens Cetol HLSe and allow to dry before finishing with Sikkens Cetol Deck Slip Resistant. Avoid heavy wear and tear on the decking for a few days after application. At temperatures below 10°C and when used internally with limited air circulation, the drying process will be delayed. On correctly prepared surfaces, apply two coats evenly with a quality brush along the grain, avoiding overlaps. Allow 24 hours between coats.

Tips & Advice

  • 1. Preparing the Surfaces
Surface Description: Hardwood and softwood decking including Treated Pine, Merbau, Spotted Gum and Jarrah.
    Preparation and application advice:
Step 1: Ensure the timber to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dirt or loose debris. New Timber: New tannin-rich timbers should be allowed to season first or rough sanded and treated with Sikkens Cetol BL Tannin & Oil Remover to encourage oils and tannins to be drawn to the surface. Older Timber: Sand back to bare all flaking, peeling, and weathered coating. If the existing stain finish is in good condition or the timber has uniformly weathered (turned grey) with no visible finish, then sanding is not essential; move to the next step.
Step 2: Cean the timber with Sikkens Cetol BL Deck & Wood Cleaner. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly. For previously stained timber with an intact finish, for best results, light sanding is recommended. Remove sanding dust.
Step 3: Apply Sikkens Cetol Deck Slip Resistant.
Stir the can well before and frequently during use. Brush on evenly along the grain. Apply a second coat after 24 hours. Do not allow puddles to form. Back brush the excess for a uniform finish.
