Find Your Colour: Protect and enhance the beauty of your deck with natural colours!

You only have to look at your garden decking to appreciate its natural beauty. That’s why we care for it and want to maintain its original look for longer. Matching the color of the timber or changing it to an authentic timber color is essential. A great way to steer your decision-making is to think about the type of wood or color you prefer.

Natural timber tone

To help inspire you, our colour experts have selected a beautiful range of natural colours, so all you need to do is pick the shade that most closely matches your timber or preferred natural timber tone. Check out the colours below to visualise the look for your decking…

Selecting the right colour can be difficult. That is why Sikkens has created sample pots to help.  Coat a small patch of your timber with the chosen colour tone and product and view it at different times of the day and in different light before making a decision. Please note that as you apply subsequent coats, the colour depth will increase. Therefore, apply at least two coats and allow to dry.  Our sample pots are available at Bunnings and other specialist paint shops.

Natural beauty of your Spotted Gum and Pine decking

Natural (078): This pale and light color is our lightest shade and perfect to highlight the natural beauty of your Spotted Gum and Pine decking, along with its natural grains and texture. It is also a great choice for Merbau decking if you are looking for a minimal transformation.

Pine (077): If you’re working with softwoods this light yet warm shade is perfect to enhance the natural light-to-mid brown tones, alongside highlighting its naturally darker grains. This colour will also suit Spotted Gum and Merbau decking if you wish to add a bit of vibrancy to the timber.

Light Oak (006) and Dark Oak (009):  Light-to-medium brown tinged with gold, these shades are perfect if you want to show off the natural colour of any dark brown hardwood and add extra character and warmth to softwoods.

Popular stain colour for paler timbers

Teak (085): A light-to-medium brown with red undertone, this shade is perfect to enhance the warm, reddish-brown tones of your Merbau decking.

Mahogany (045): An earthy red, with brown undertones, this shade is a popular choice for Jarrah decks.

Merbau (037): A darker reddish-brown stain colour resembling the aged Merbau timber look.

Walnut (010): A warm, rich, dark brown color. It is a popular stain colour for paler timbers, as it adds a sophisticated, classic look to your surroundings.

Silver Grey (813): If you love that vintage, worn out wood color, but want the wood to look a bit more nourished, Silver Grey is your go-to stain.
