Deck Ultra Slip Resistant is a durable, easy-to-use, and low-maintenance slip-resistant timber stain. It penetrates deeply into the timber and provides extreme UV and weather protection. The microporous coating allows the timber to breathe while repelling unwanted moisture, making it ideal for decks, steps, walkways wherever slip resistance is required. P4 slip resistance is achieved with two coats.
Ready to use with no need to thin. Stir thoroughly before use. Final colour will depend upon timber type, previous treatment and the number of coats applied. Ensure timber moisture content is below 15%. Do not apply in temperatures below 5℃ and above 35°C, in damp conditions (when relative humidity is above 85%), or if rain or dew is likely before the product has dried. If using more than one can, it is advisable to mix them together in a larger container or finish in a corner before starting the new can to ensure colour consistency. On previously stained decking, touch up bare areas with Sikkens Cetol HLSe and allow to dry before finishing with Sikkens Cetol Deck Slip Resistant. Avoid heavy wear and tear on the decking for a few days after application. At temperatures below 10°C and when used internally with limited air circulation, the drying process will be delayed. On correctly prepared surfaces, apply two coats evenly with a quality brush along the grain, avoiding overlaps. Allow 24 hours between coats.

  • 1. Preparing the Surfaces
For new timber (including timber with mill glaze): New or unseasoned hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum, Tallowwood, Jarrah, and Ironbark contain natural tannins. These tannins must be extracted before coating. This will occur naturally over 3 to 6 months, depending on exposure, or the process can be accelerated using BL Tannin & Oil Remover followed by BL Deck & Wood Cleaner. For best results:
    1. Sand timber using coarse 60–80 grit sandpaper, or softwood using 100–120 grit sandpaper, in the direction of the grain. Sanding improvs
adhesion, enhances penetration, and increases durability.
    2. For unseasoned hardwoods: apply BL Tannin & Oil Remover and then BL Deck & Wood Cleaner according to the instructions.
    3. For softwoods or seasoned hardwoods: apply only BL Deck & Wood Cleaner according to the instructions.
    4. Rinse timber thoroughly and allow to dry completely before applying Sikkens Deck Ultra Slip Resistant.
  • 2. After use
Clean brushes and equipment immediately after use with mineral turpentine/white spirit.
  • 3. Storing
Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool.Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a segregated and approved area. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see Section 10) and food and drink. Eliminate all ignition sources. Separate from oxidising materials. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination. See Section 10 for incompatible materials before handling or use.
