Product Description

A deep penetrating, preserving timber oil that nourishes, colours and protects exterior timber. Provides a natural matt finish for Merbau, Spotted Gum, Jarrah and Similar hardwoods, as well as softwoods such as Pine, Cedar and Tasmanian Oak. It enhances the grain pattern and appearance and protect by replacing the timber’s natural oils and resins lost through weathering.

Application Description

Ready to use with no need to thin. Stir thoroughly before use. Final colour will depend upon timber type, previous treatment and the number of coats applied. Ensure timber moisture content is below 15%. Do not apply in temperatures below 5℃ and above 35°C, in damp conditions (when relative humidity is above 85%), or if rain or dew is likely before the product has dried. If using more than one can, it is advisable to mix them together in a larger container or finish in a corner before starting the new can to ensure colour consistency. For use on sanded (or seasoned and hence porous), washed, dry bare wood. Avoid heavy wear and tear on the decking for a few days after application. At temperatures below 10°C and when used internally with limited air circulation, the drying process will be delayed. On correctly prepared surfaces, 2 coats evenly with a good quality brush along the grain, avoiding overlaps. Allow a minimum of 12 hours between coats.

Tips & Advice

  • 1. Preparing the Surfaces
"Surface Description: Hardwood and softwood decking and other exterior timber including Treated Pine, Victorian Ash, Tasmanian Oak, Blackbutt, Merbau, Spotted Gum and Jarrah.
    Preparation and application advice:
Step 1: Ensure the timber to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dirt or loose debris. New Timber: New tannin-rich timbers should be allowed to season first or rough sanded and treated with Sikkens Cetol BL Tannin & Oil Remover to encourage oils and tannins to be drawn to the surface. Older Timber: Sand back to bare all flaking, peeling, and weathered coating. If the existing stain finish is in good condition, then DO NOT use this product without sanding back to bare. If the timber has uniformly weathered (turned grey) with no visible finish, then sanding is not essential; move to the next step.
Step 2: Cean the timber with Sikkens Cetol BL Deck & Wood Cleaner. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 3: Apply Sikkens Cetol Premium Oil
Stir the can well before and frequently during use.
  • 2. Cleaning
Clean brushes and equipment immediately with warm water and soap / washing-up liquid.

Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see Section 10 of the MSDS file) and food and drink.
